12/15/17 TRAIL UPDATE

Winter is definitely here in Rockwood!  Trails are brushed and in great shape, we will be looking at possibly packing trails this weekend . Please be careful on woods trails if you do go out riding as rocks and stumps are everywhere, don’t need to break things this early. If you trailer to road systems out of town riding should be good. PLEASE stay off ALL WATER, nothing is frozen solid yet. We are in process of signing our trails and intersections , some changes in neighboring trail systems are still being finalized so not all intersections are marked correctly at this time. We have a couple

11 / 7 / 17 TRAIL UPDATE

We had a GREAT bunch of helpers this past weekend , 11 of us covered our 35 miles of trail clearing all the blow downs from the big storm. What a relief that is , we still have some areas that need brushing and signing . The 12 mile bog road is closed this season for logging so PLEASE stay off it. Our trail will change on the South Branch road at our kiosk, we will continue right at kiosk to Demo road , ride edge of Demo across bridge and take a left back on to South Branch road , this

We groomed our entire system Monday night and trails are in GREAT shape. Groomers will be out again Friday or Saturday depending on conditions and temperatures. This weekend will be some of the best riding this season, long warm days, can’t beat that. The Birches has stopped grooming as there trails have a lot of plowed roads, so going to Greenville from Rockwood is not possible and trail over blue ridge to Jackman is also done. Pittston farm , Jackman , Parlin and Long pond are all grooming this weekend . Kokadjo has stopped grooming but Jo mary is grooming so there

CLUB RIDE

Well we had our club ride Saturday and the weather was spectacular, the lake was flat, and the trails were awesome some of the best spring riding we have ever had. About 30 of us did some of the shore line on Moosehead, we brought snacks and beverages with us and had a little picnic. After the ride we all returned to Moosehead sled repair & rental for a chicken BBQ, which was delicious. Please try and join us next year its a lot of fun. Our groomer went out again Monday, and we are waiting to see how the

3 / 5 /17 TRAIL REPORT

Sorry for the late trail post but Dottie and I both came down with a flu bug . The groomers were out Saturday and Sunday covering the entire system. Water holes are a problem in woods trails and some in town spots so please use caution. Trails are in excellent shape as of today, thanks goes out to the groomer operators for their efforts. I know the Birches has been out trying to groom also but the trail to Greenville has 3 new plowed roads putting a damper on their efforts. I know it seems early to be writing a report

Can’t believe this weather. We tried to go out with groomer this afternoon and water holes are everywhere, I think we will cause more harm than good at this time, so we will try again tomorrow and see if the water drains off some. The last thing we want to do is break thru the wet spots and make them impassable for sleds. Paul is grooming in town tonight. They are logging on Brassua trail so please be careful ,also many water holes opening up on this trail. Also a note on ITS 88 on the back side of Blue Ridge is

We have to update our grooming schedule because of the very warm temps. The trails are in good shape , Paul rode our system today and reported very good riding, but very soft conditions, so we will wait for colder temps to resume grooming. I have talked to area clubs and they are doing the same. Please use caution when riding as water holes can open at any time. Thank you
